June Roaster’s Choice:
Costa Rica Tarrazú Hot Springs
Clean, complex, and full of character — this unique washed coffee is unlike anything we’ve shared before.
☕ What Makes This Release Special?
Grown in the highlands of Tarrazú, Costa Rica’s most renowned coffee region, this microlot is processed using a Volcanic Spring Water Washed method. At the San Diego Wet Mill, naturally heated thermal spring water is used to accelerate fermentation and infuse the coffee with trace minerals.
The result is a remarkably clean cup with bright acidity, enhanced sweetness, and a nuanced flavor profile that reflects the terroir and innovation behind it.

🌄 Why Tarrazú?
With elevations reaching up to 1,750 meters, Tarrazú produces some of Costa Rica’s most sought-after coffees. It was awarded Denomination of Origin status in 2019, thanks to its signature profile: fine acidity, red fruit, and full body.
Coffee in this region grows in mineral-rich red clay soil, nourished by tropical rains and cool mountain air — the ideal environment for developing dense, flavorful beans.
🏡 About the Mill
The Beneficio San Diego Mill has been a cornerstone of Costa Rican coffee since 1888. It’s known for pioneering sustainable practices and processing innovation, especially with unique methods like this thermal spring fermentation.
