Aprocassi Cooperative: A Beacon of Change
Peru Aprocassi is a product of the Aprocassi cooperative, a beacon of hope and positive change in the Cajamarca region of Peru. With 600 active members spread across the provinces of San Ignacio and Jaen, this cooperative is deeply committed to sustainable practices and community development. Their members cultivate coffee at altitudes ranging from 1,000 to 2,500 meters, ensuring the coffee cherries receive the perfect conditions to develop exquisite flavors.
From the cooperative's inception in March 2000, it has been driven by a vision of a more sustainable future. Aprocassi's roots can be traced back to 1997 when local families took a stand against a Canadian mining multinational that threatened their ecosystem. United by the common goal of a better tomorrow, backed by the Catholic church and farmers alike, the association was formed. Under the guidance of Reverend Humberto Tapia Días, the cooperative has evolved into what it is today, fostering projects like reforestation, beekeeping, honey production, and supporting young entrepreneurs.
